5 fun ways to celebrate Valentine's Day with your family
So many things change once you have a family. And one of these is, how you celebrate holidays or special events. Sure you still get to go on a date night with your partner, celebrating Valentine's Day with your family can be pretty special too!
After my monkeys were born, we made Valentine's Day into a family celebration. Sharing some of our favorite things to do on Valentine’s Day.
Love Packages
This is one thing my kids love the most! Small little packages with their favorite things in it makes for a great Valentine’s Day gift. I give these first things in the morning. I add things like, a bath toy or bath bomb, a little sweet treat to eat after breakfast or at school, a small note, tiny gifts such as Valentine’s themed pencils or notepads. They love opening this gift and use it throughout the day.
Special Meal
Little ones love special meals. And if you involve them in the planning, preparation or setting of the table, they feel extra special. We take a simple meal that I know everyone will love and elaborate it with sides or simple appetizers and end with a dessert. A family favorite is Spaghetti, Veggie Ball with a side of packaged salad, apple cider and end with vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce and their favorite toppings.
I ask them to set the table and make it extra special by adding a center piece(which is created by them). A sure shot way to lift everybody’s mood!
Family Game/Bake night
Depending upon how enthusiastic you are about the holiday, you can either bake a fun valentine’s treat or set up a family game night. I am a baking kind of person and my husband prefers games, so whoever is more up for the challenge usually picks the activity. Kids love both the activities the same! What do you prefer?
