The Factors That Affect the Cost of Newborn Photography
The little love of your life is peacefully sleeping in your arms and you never want to forget how wonderful it felt holding your baby close to your heart.
You start looking for a Newborn Photographer and are now suddenly overwhelmed with the choices and the pricing of the session that ranges from $100 to $10000.
Obviously it's a lot to wrap your head around and figure out what works best for you and your family. You want to invest into the memories of this beautiful family you have created but are unsure about how to being,
Well, there is no one way to figure out how much a Newborn Photoshoot costs in the Bay Area. Art is very subjective.
But here are the 6 tips that will help you figure out how much your photoshoot will cost.
What are you looking for in a Newborn Photoshoot?
This one starts with you! What is it that you are looking for in a photoshoot?
Do you want studio style portraits of just the baby or do you want to document this beautiful and tiring season of your life?
Do you wish someone could capture your little family exactly how you see it? To bottle all the love you feel for this little human and create art that is magical, to say the least?
Well, that needs a photographer who takes time to know you and your expectations from this photoshoot and not just come in with some cookie cutter poses and is done in 20 minutes.
Is the experience important to you?
From car dealership to eating in a restaurant, we all know how experience changes drastically when we move between low, mid and high end entities. Now sure, not every time we want to sit in a fancy restaurant and enjoy a four course meal. But every now and then its so much fun and relaxing to enjoy a beautiful evening in a high end restaurant. Photography is exactly like that. You can get the experience you are looking for, from commodity to luxury!
What's the pricing model of the photographer?
This is one thing that confuses so many families. There are usually two types of pricing model when it comes to photography:
Session Fee + Products In this model, you pay for the session free to reserve your photoshoot. After the session, you meet with the photographer for a Purchasing Appointment, to view your images and buy products.
All Inclusive This is a simpler model, where pay for the photoshoot and your images upfront and there is no purchasing done after the photoshoot. You usually get your digital files and its up to you to print and create family heirlooms.
What's their expertise?
Art is like wine, it gets better with age and experience. The more experienced your photographer, the more expensive they are. They have learnt the craft and mastered it over the years creating images that feel like magic.
And when someone has spent so much time, money and energy honing their skill and they know exactly what they are doing, they are going to be expensive.
How polished are their pictures? Do they provide editing and retouching?
What does the final product look like? Are the pictures edited with consistency and have true colors? Do they look polished?
With a seasoned photographer, you will receive a gallery filled with beautiful, cohesive, heartfelt images which are high resolution and look as beautiful when viewed on a bigger screen.
Do they deliver high quality products?
Whether you are getting digital images or products such as Photo Albums or Prints, are the products high quality? You can get a picture book printed at Walmart for $20 and pay $400 to be printed at a reputable lab. The quality obviously is very different.
So the short answer is, like with everything else in life, you get what you pay for.
