Color Inspiration for Unforgettable Spring Family Photos
Spring is here! There is beauty and color everywhere. And you have booked yourself a Spring Family Photo Session! Yes! I too am excited for you!
Spring is my most favorite time to get family pictures.
All those winter months are finally over and the little ones can once again, run in the flower fields and enjoy this spectacular display of color by mother nature.
Before I get carried away and write a poem about why I love spring so much, let me get to the task at hand, your and your family’s wardrobe for your Spring Family Photoshoot.
First things first:
Spring Color Palette
We all know what the color palette for Fall is, through in some neutrals with orange or red and you are set to go.
When it comes to Spring, things are a little more nuanced.
You have to know what color will be your backdrop for your spring family photoshoot.
Will there be Pink Cherry blossoms or purple lupine or yellow wild mustard.
Knowing your backdrop is the first step in determining the Color Palette for your Family’s Spring photoshoot.
And you can never go wrong with following:
Pastel Colors: No matter the color of the backdrop, pastel colors will always work wonders in your Spring Family Photo Session
Earthy Colors: Although a little more loud, the muted red and olive green adds just the right amount of color to your field of wildflowers.
Neutrals, Whites or Off White: With nature bursting with color, you can step back and enjoy a gorgeous lacy dress in white or off white and dress your family in neutrals. That would be a picture out of a fairy tale.
Now that you have your color palette figured out, let’s go on to the next step.
Choose coordinated outfits, no matching please!
Whatever you do, please do not match the entire family’s outfits. Not only is it a thing of the past, the last thing you want on a photoshoot is for everyone to look stiff.
Let your family members contribute to the planning and pick their favorite outfits from your palette. Not only will everyone look like themselves, they will be so much more likely to cooperate during the photoshoot when they were involved in the planning.
No Logos
I know I told you to let kids pick their own outfits, but please don’t let them pick anything with huge logos on it.
We want all attention on little Johnny and not on his “GAP” sweatshirt!
Now I know little kid’s clothing can have a lot of texts or graphics on it but find the ones without one. My goto stores are Zara, Gap, H&M and Target. You can always find timeless clothing in these stores.
Use your style
This is the most important one.
Don’t let Pintrest guide your decision, choose what you love to wear and go from there.
Especially for kids, choose comfort over style. Happy kids in simple clothes are so much cuter than grumpy kids in stylish clothes.
Also, there is a lot of playing ang hugging and jumping around, so go with outfits and hair-do’s that can move with you.
That’s it! You are all ready!
Now embrace all the beauty and the playful possibilities of spring! Let's create vibrant memories that will warm your hearts for years to come.
