Where to find Fall Colors in South San Francisco Bay Area

Updated: Sep 30, 2023

My favorite locations to photograph fall colors in Bay Area

Fall is here and your social media feed is filled with beautiful fall images. And here in California we are not even close to the vibrant colors the rest of the nation is experiencing. Well, first of all, every vibrant fall image is actually edited to look that way. Secondly, we might not have a huge array of Maple or Oak trees surrounding our parks but we do have tiny pockets where nature displays a spectacular show.

Following are the places where you can get your fix for Fall Photography and find gorgeous Fall Colors in Bay Area:

1. Vasona County Lake Park

Vasona Park in Los Gatos is by far my most favorite park to enjoy fall colors. From beautiful vibrant colors to breathtaking sunset hues you can find everything at this park. The foliage reflection in lake is the best you can get in Bay Area.

2. Almaden Lake Park

If you are in South San Jose , Almaden Lake Park is the best place to see vibrant hues of Reds, Yellows and Oranges. Visit this park on a weekend afternoon and enjoy the lake and the beautiful colors in Fall. It also. has a little park for kids to play.

3. Streets in Los Gatos

I know not a usual spot to find fall colors but by the Carlton Ave school you will find streets with canopy of trees filled with gorgeous hues of fall! Also a fun place to look at Halloween Decorations.

4. Heritage Orchard Saratoga

The Heritage Orchard in Saratoga is lined with apricot trees. The apricot trees change color in fall so this is one of the only place in South Bay with deep fall colors. The Orchard also has a backdrop of Saratoga mountains which provides beautiful backdrop at Sunset.

5. Los Gatos Creek Trail Park

The Los Gatos Creek Trail Park in Campbell is actually a hidden gem. Not many people come there so you get to enjoy the entire place to yourself. The Park has beautiful fall colors and a gorgeous lake. Enjoy a beautiful sunset or go fishing with your family there.
